Privacy Policy
Yondry is a personal day-planning app. We only collect what we need to make it work, we never sell your data, and we try to explain everything clearly. If something here is confusing, email us.
1. Who we are
Yondry is operated by Yondry Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17267423). Our registered office is 14 Rennie Court, 8 Brindley Place, London UB8 2WA.
Yondry Ltd is the data controller for all personal data collected through the Yondry app and website. For any privacy queries, contact us at privacy@yondry.app.
2. What data we collect
Account information
When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address. We do not store your Apple or Google password.
Location data
Yondry uses your location to find places near you, suggest day plans, and optimise routes. We request location permission only when you use the app. We do not track your location in the background.
Places you save
When you save a place — from a link, Google Maps, or Instagram — we store that place's name, address, coordinates, category, and any notes you add. This data belongs to you.
Day plans and visit history
We store the plans Yondry generates for you, and any visit history you record (ratings, notes, companions). This is used to improve future suggestions.
Usage data
We collect basic analytics about how the app is used — which features are tapped, how long sessions last, and crash reports. This data is aggregated and not linked to you personally where possible.
Device information
We collect your device type, operating system version, and app version for debugging and compatibility purposes.
3. How we use your data
We process your personal data for the following purposes. The lawful basis under UK GDPR is listed for each:
| Purpose | Lawful basis (UK GDPR Art. 6) |
|---|---|
| Generate personalised day plans based on your saved places and preferences | Contract — Art. 6(1)(b): necessary to provide the service you signed up for |
| Authenticate your account and keep it secure | Contract — Art. 6(1)(b) |
| Improve the app, fix bugs, and analyse usage patterns | Legitimate interests — Art. 6(1)(f): improving a service we provide |
| Send service-related notifications (e.g. account changes) | Contract — Art. 6(1)(b) |
| Send marketing communications (only if you opt in) | Consent — Art. 6(1)(a) |
| Comply with legal obligations | Legal obligation — Art. 6(1)(c) |
4. AI and third-party services
Anthropic (Claude AI)
We use Anthropic's Claude AI to generate day plans and tag your saved places. When generating a plan, limited information about your saved places and stated preferences is sent to Anthropic's API. Anthropic does not use this data to train their models by default. You can review Anthropic's privacy policy at anthropic.com/privacy.
Google Places API
We use Google Places to enrich place data (photos, opening hours, ratings). Queries to Google Places may include place names and coordinates. Google's privacy policy applies: policies.google.com/privacy.
OpenWeatherMap
We use OpenWeatherMap to factor current weather into your day plans. We send your approximate location coordinates. Their privacy policy applies: openweathermap.org/privacy-policy.
Google Sign-In / Sign in with Apple
Authentication is handled by Google and Apple. We receive only your name and email. These providers have their own privacy policies which govern how they handle your data during sign-in.
Railway (hosting)
Our backend infrastructure runs on Railway. Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Railway's servers. Railway's privacy policy applies: railway.app/legal/privacy.
5. Your rights under UK GDPR
If you are based in the UK or European Economic Area, you have the following rights:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Erasure — request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Restriction — ask us to limit how we process your data
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@yondry.app. We will respond within 30 days.
6. Data deletion
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Profile screen in the app (Profile → Settings → Delete account). Deletion is permanent and irreversible. We will remove your data from our systems within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.
7. Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days. Aggregated, anonymised analytics data may be retained indefinitely.
8. Data security
We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), JWT authentication, and secure credential storage. However, no system is completely secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
9. Children
Yondry is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. International data transfers
Some of our third-party service providers (including Anthropic and Google) are based in the United States. When your data is transferred outside the UK or EEA, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with UK GDPR requirements, including reliance on UK adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses where applicable.
11. Cookies and tracking
The Yondry mobile app does not use cookies. Our website (yondry.app) may use essential cookies for functionality. We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies without your consent.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or by email. Continued use of Yondry after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
